1999 996 C4 Cab with hardtop

Vehicle Information: Year: 1999; Body Type: Cabriolet; Total Mileage: 56000;

This is my first porsche (996 C4 Cab with hardtop) I brought in mid Sept 2004 and I enjoy every minutes of driving the car especially with the top down. I have put the hardtop on since it started to rain here in California and the squeaks and rattle of the hardtop really brothers me so I brought the car to a reputablable porsche body shop and have them adjust the top and some other repairs on scratches and small dings. They fix all the scratch and dings but could not adjust the top. They called the Porsche Dealer about the hardtop and the dealer fax them 10 pages of instructions on how it needed to be adjust and that I will need to replace the latches that will cost $90 a piece + my bodyshop hourly cost to install them. I see there are some post as early as 2000 that mentioned this problem and it was refer to bring it back to the dealer. Is this a recall problem that the dealer will fix free of charge? I am the third owner of the porsche and I will bring the car in for 60K service anyway. Please advise. Thanks in advance.
