1999 996 C4 car died suddenly on highway 40 miles from home

Vehicle Information: Model: 996 Carrera-4; Year: 1999; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 32,500;

Dear Joel, recently I made a trip to Seattle with the car for a family birthday. The car ran perfectly on the way out and back. Nearing a 1400 mile roundtrip and my home town 40 miles away the car qite suddenly died along side the road. The car was towed to a local PCA member's driveway in Great Falls for repairs and a fix. To date, the car will crank but will not start. I am in no dealership land (Calgary and Spokane the closest) here in Montana and I was wondering if you'd have any suggestions as to what might be wrong with the car or where to start looking. It's either a fuel issue an engine issue or an electronic issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Jerry
