1999 996 Check engine light on after expansion tank replacement

Vehicle Information: Model: 996; Year: 1999; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 89000;

I replaced the original expansion tank due to a slight leak. Although quite a job, patience prevailed and the replacement is complete. Other winter maintenence included new plugs and an oil change and filter. When I started the engine to bleed the coolant system all was good. Car came up to temp, did not over heat had no leaks ran fine. Twenty minutes into warn up the check engine light came on. Due to the the tank replacement can you suggest areas to look for problems related to the repair? I am 70 miles from the nearest dealer or shop and don't want to drive the car that far is it is a bigger problem. I do understand that I will need to get the codes at a dealer and make decisions based upon those.
