1999 996 Oil and Coolant leak

Vehicle Information: Model: Carrera; Year: 1999; Body Type: Cabriolet; Total Mileage: 24,000.;

I just had my car inspected at a Porsche dealership and was told that the Technician found Oil leaking from the crankcase through the tubes, vario-cam solenoid gasket and coolant leaking from the crankcase gasket. Is this symptomatic of larger problems associated with this model year. I have read about RMS problems with these this related. I was told that this was not a big deal, but that the repairs would cost approx. $1,000.00, which did not seem to be a minor problem...should I be worried?
