1999 996 Oil Sender issue?

Vehicle Information: Model: C2 'Tip'; Year: 1999; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 120k;

The oil pressure reads zero when power applied to electric's and when you crank the motor the pressure shoots to above 5bar on the dial and stays there under any condition. It never comes down even after engine warmed up or at any RPM. I had a PPI done at a dealer and they missed this. Does this sound like a sender issue and if so, is this a DIY project and is the sender an easy to replace or is it in a god forsaken spot? The car is great otherwise, with no leaks what so ever - temp never goes over 180 and it runs on Mobil 0-40. Thanks
