2000 006 Handmade wiring harness???

Electrical and Electronic

Vehicle Information: Year: 2000; Body Type: Cabriolet; Total Mileage: 22000;

In my continuing quest to try to retrofit heated seats and DSP into my car, the dealer came up with a new reason/excuse why it won't work. I'm told that Porsche "hand-makes" every wiring harnass for each automobile (ID'd by VIN number) and "NEVER" pre-wires any 996 for accessories not ordered at the time of manufacture. I am a bit skeptical given what I would expect to be the astronomical cost of unique individual human hand-made wiring for each car versus 3-4 "standard wiring harnasses" with a few extra ounces of copper in every car, especially since every other German car I have ever owned (BMW M3, BMW 540, BMW M5, Mercedes ML430)came pre-wired for European accessories not available in the US or other accessories such as telephones etc not originally built into the car. Does Porsche really "hand-make" VIN# unique wiring harnasses for each and every 996 or is my leg being (knowingly or unknowingly) pulled?? If so I'll stop my quest for retrofit heated seats, or anything else original Porsche stock for that matter. Thanks in advance......
