RE: tire pressures. Also read earlier comments. I have been running the specified pressures in Conti Sport Contact N2 18" for the last two years. Tire wear has been excellent with pressures staying within the specified ranges for both local street and long hauls to and from NJ/NY, summer and winter. However, I am amazed at the difference in high speed handling a tiny change in pressure seems to make. Following old guides, I tend to increase pressures for long drives, hoping to improve mileage. That does NOT work. If the pressure gets below the spec, the car tends to "weave", for lack of a better word at 70-80mph. The optiomum pressure seems to be about 38 front and 42-44 rear with driver plus considerable luggage evenly distributed. Without doubt, too much luggage up front results in poor tracking. There are a lot of variables beyond tire pressure and it is not easy to get the right combination of weight, weight distrbution, speed, road conditions, tread, wheel size, tire type and pressure. Things change.
