2001 996 Pothole vs Car

Suspension and Steering

Vehicle Information: Model: 996; Year: 2001; Body Type: Cabriolet; Total Mileage: 26,500;

Recently I had the misfortune of hitting a pothole with my right front tire/wheel. It struck with a resounding thud at about 50 mph and bent the wheel. The tire appeared ok after inspection, so it was mounted on a brand new wheel and balanced. The car seems to drive fine with no apparent vibration, shimmey, or shaking. My question is twofold. What are the chances that something in the suppension got tweaked? Also, I am concerned that I may have knocked it out of alignment, but the car drives ok (except that every unusual road noise makes me think the car is bent). Should I have the car aligned and the suspension checked, or is there something else I should consider. Thanks.
