2001 Boxster tiptronic fluid

Transmission

Vehicle Information: Model (Boxster, Boxster S,Cayman, Cayman S): Boxster; Year: 2001; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.7; Total Mileage: 58k; Transmission: Tiptronic;

I had my 60K service performed by my local mechanic who specializes in Porsches. I asked him to change the transmission fluid because we are going on a trip.When he changed the transmission (tiptronic) fluid he said it was the dirtiest fluid he had seen in a Boxster. He saved some so I could look at it. It was black, didn't smell burnt, and very little sediments in it. The transmission doesn't slip. I do use the buttons to shift some of the time but it is mostly in automatic mode. I AXed it for one season (now I use my 914/6). I don't think it was put on a track before I bought it (2003).Any ideas as to why the fluid would be black?Thanks,Mike
