2002 911 Follow-up: Oil Consumption Rate and Intermittent Start-up Smoke

Vehicle Information: Model: 911; Year: 2002; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 32,500;

This is a follow-up to two prior posts. The first was entitled, "2002 911 Oil Consumption Change," and the second was "2002 996 Carrera Intermittent Smoke on Start-up." I printed out your responses to my prior posts, and brought them to a highly recommended master mechanic at a large dealership in the area. Based on your comments and his inspection, he apparently ran a leak down test. The problem was diagnosed as a faulty oil separator, which was replaced under warranty. Based on what I subsequently read about the test and the oil separator, it would seem to make sense, or at least it doesn't seem irrational or inconsistent with the symptoms reported. I won't be driving the car hard this winter, so it's quite possible that I won't see any problems until the spring. Any comments, or things I should watch for in the meantime?
