2002 996 C4S Track Tires

Wheels and Tires

Vehicle Information: Model: 996 C4S; Year: 2002; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 28,000;

I have been trying to decide what tires to use in place of the stock Pirelli P Zeros that would give me better performance in autocross, time trial and DE events. I want to be able to drive the car to the events on the same tires I will use at the events. Since 2005, I only drive about 3,500 miles a year - 30% at the track, 30% low-moderate speeds around town, and 40% on the highway to and from the track. I would like the tires to last for one year. I do not wnat to make any additional modifications.I know the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups are good but expensive and I do not know if I will be able to get 3,500 to 4,000 miles our of them. A friend of mine suggested a much more affordable alternative in the Falken Azenis RT-615s but only the front tires come in the stock size. The Falken tech person suggested that I use 235/40 R 18 in front and 315/30 R 18 in the rear. He said I should find out what other Porsche club people think before I buy them.What would you suggest? Also, would you stay with the stock size if available or is there an advantage to changing sizes?Thanks
