2002 996 Defective Engine Case

Vehicle Information: Model: 911; Year: 2002; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 8200;

Dealer diagnosed a porous engine crank case on my low mileage 911. This requires an engine replacement. The car is 1 month past warranty expiration. Dealer called Porsche Germany and as a sign of "goodwill" they said they would give me 50% off the total cost of the engine replacement if it was done at the dealer. This car only has 8200 miles on it and it is in need of a new engine. Are you aware of any other alternatives I might have with regards to getting the engine replaced without having to shell out my own money. Dealer himself admitted it was a defective engine case and said otherwise the car is in great shape.Maybe their are implied warranty rules in Maryland? I just don't know who to turn to? I don't even know if getting a lawyer (if one would even agree to take the case) would be worth the costs in the end?Any thoughts or experiences you have heard of would be appreciated.
