2002 996 Engine Hesitation

Vehicle Information: Model: Carrera 2; Year: 2002; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 53,100;

Reman Eng instaled at 38,000. (eng has approx 15,000 mi)During easy acceleration through gears in traffic, car has distinctive hesitation/faltering going through the 2800 to 3200 RPM band. It is almost like the eng quits momentarily. During harder acceleration, it is not noticable because the range is passed through so quickly. My very qualified local Porsche mechanic (at dealership) has ridden with me with the analyzer hooked up. He too has felt it, but the analyzer doesn't pick up anything out of order. He has no idea what it could be and tells me that whatever it is will be covered by the warranty if it is ever identified! Do you have any suggestions what could be causing this to occur? The car has had vacuum leaks in the past. I located a GOLF TEE in a vac manifold above the left front side of the engine (From under the car, it was over the left axle at the inboard CV joint end) The mechanic, removed the GOLF TEE and plugged it with a bolt and RTV. Thanks for your assistance.
