2002 996 Engine Surge

Vehicle Information: Year: 2002; Body Type: Convertible; Total Mileage: 4000;

In January I wrote regarding a power surge around 3000 - 3400 RPM. I took the car to the dealer and had a Porsche factory rep review the problem. They found a recall on the transmission and a re-map of the ECU. I should mention that the re-map of the ECU was only mentioned after talking with the factory rep. It was not a recall. The transmission was replaced and the ECU re-mapped. But, it didn't help. I guess this is a quirk of the 2002 996. The dealer tells me it is the vario cam plus adjusting. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has found a solution.
