2002 996 Follow-up to The Dreaded RMS Leak

As you suggested, I scheduled the RMS replacement and talked with the dealer about doing the gauge measurement. I asked the dealer to call me when the transmission was removed so I could see for myself. Much to my surprise, the RMS looked dry, but there was leaking from a 1-inch triangular area just below the RMS. The dealer replaced both the the leaking seal plus put in a new RMS(see attached invoice). Is this a normal problem with the intermediate shaft seal? I have not read about this in any of PCA tech notes. Can you comment? Is it any significance that the RMS is not leaking and the other seal is leaking? Thanks, for any suggestions.
