2002 996 Starting Delay

Electrical and Electronic

Vehicle Information: Model: 996; Year: 2002; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 34000;

Joel,I saw the post about the 2002 996tt starting delay. I had a similar problem, and so thought it might be worth posting it and the solution. Is there a mechanism to do this w/o posting a new question? Just curious.I have a 2002 996, and my starting problems were similar to those posted. However, it had nothing to do with the electrical system - I just was not pushing the clutch pedal fully in. I have had 7 previous porsches, and the 996 just seems to require that the clutch pedal be "fully" depressed. To see if this is the issue, depress the clutch pedal, turn the key and try to start the engine. If it does not start, push the clutch pedal harder, till it hits the floor - in my case, the car then starts. Now that I have a better feel, I can start the car with no problem. However, when I am otherwise preoccupied and don't depress the pedal fully, it happens, reminding me to just push harder while the key is turned. BTW, I discovered this after e-mailing you; your advice was to have my mechanic sit in the car with me and duplicate the problem - great advice, it led to the answer.Steve
