2003 996 battery replacement

Vehicle Information: Model: 996; Year: 2003; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 35000;
I need to replace my battery on my 2003 996 - it's DEAD. If I remove the battery to take to a shop to verify the correct size (not going with OEM), will I be able to open the trunk after removing the battery?Also, am I correct that I will not need a radio code?thanks, Steve
