2003 996 C4S Occasional Noise and Driveline Shudder When Shifting out of First Gear

Transmission and Clutch

Vehicle Information: Model: 4S; Year: 2003; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 40,000;

I have worked my way through the archives and did not find a similar question -- I'm sure glad it is not popping out of second gear!I have owned this 911 for six weeks and most of the time the gear changes from first to second with the manual transmission are unremarkable.During every 25 or so first-to-second shifts, that is, as I am moving the shifter out of first, I get a sensation like the shifter is being ejected from first gear, although it goes into second normally. Sometimes there is, what seems to me, a drivetrain shudder as it comes out of first. It doesn't happen in the first couple of shifts.My first thought is that I somehow didn't have the gear shift fully into first so upon shifting, there's this bang. Another possibility is that although I can walk and chew gum at the same time, maybe my hand/foot coordination is breaking down at times.I purchased the car from a local dealer and it is Certified Pre-Owned, so it is under that warranty until late 2009.If the problem is intermittant and not me, it might not show up on a test drive by the dealer's service department. So my best move is . . . I am so grateful to have someone I can ask about this. Any information and advice would be greatly appreciated.
