2003 996 Car Break In Period

Vehicle Information: Year: 2003; Body Type: Cabriolet; Total Mileage: 1200;

My manual states the break in period is 2,000 miles. It states to keep the rpm's under 4,500 which I have faithfully done.I average 35 miles a week on the car and it will take me to Oct 04 to get my required mileage before I can have a little fun with it.The older 996's had a break in period of 1,000 miles per their manual.My question: Why did Porsche up the break-in mileage period to 2,000 miles from the old 1,000 mile standard.I just feel very restrained in the car during this break-in period and want some advice if going to redline after 1,200 miles will do any harm to the engine.Porsche always has a reason when it makes changes. Can you spread some light on this matter?Thanks, Don from Va
