2003 996 Data on 996 Engine failures

Vehicle Information: Year: 2003; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 3,650;

This is my second new 911 coupe, and I have enjoyed both cars, if not the hopeless dealership I bought them from. ( the first was a 2001) However, I have read much on the incidence of engine swops because of rear main seal failures, and now on later cars, an intermediate shaft bearing failure.I believe earlier 996 engines had a double roller bearing intermediate shaft, and later ones a single. Apparently the double roller bearing was more reliable.Being a mechanical automotive engineer I am not prone to paranoia on this issue, but would appreciate any thoughts you might have on the percentage of cars likely to have these catastrophic failures. Porsche must have this data on record, even if they will not make it public.Do you possibly have accsess to the engine number when the later single shaft bearing was incorporated?My car was built in April 2003. I am wondering if the problem was addressed before my car was built.I recognize that my engine was probably assembled long before the April 2003 build date.Thanks in advance for any info you can give me to prolong my resistance to paranoia.
