2003 996 Flat spotting tire safety

Wheels and Tires

Vehicle Information: Model: 996; Year: 2003; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 9800;

Are there any safety concerns with tires that are flat spotting? This is a 2003 with 9800 miles on it with the original 18" tires that are in very good condition with a lot of miles left in them. How far and how ofter do the tires need to move to prevent flat spotting? Would rolling the car in the garage until the tires have rotated a 1/4 or 1/2 turn prevent the problem or would it have to be driven and if so then how far? Are the recommendations still to move the tires/drive the car every 2-3 days still valid for new tires? Are there any tires more resistant to this problem such as run-flat tires? Thank you for your response to my question about the probabilty of RMS failure. Thanks for putting it all in context.
