2003 996 high oil pressure

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model: 996; Year: 2003; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 22,700;

I recently purchased this car and have found that, when warm, the car idles at 800 rpm and the oil pressure gauge is at "2". The owner's manual says that the gauge should read approx. "3.5" at 5,000 rpm. I find that the gauge pegs out at 5 at between 3000 and 3,500 rpm. The oil level is ok both when I let the electronic oil level sensor check it and when I look at the dipstick. I talked to the shop that did the prepurchase inspection and they told me they didn't think it was a problem, but it bothers me. Any advice?
