Engine

Vehicle Information: Model (Boxster, Boxster S,Cayman, Cayman S): Boxster; Year: 2003; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.7, stock; Total Mileage: 51000; Transmission: Manual;

Thanks for all the work answering questions and suggesting fixes.My Boxster is used as a commuter car, ~10mi per trip, twice per workday. No track use. Have owned it for the last 3 years, 20.000mi. No track use. Stock configuration. Zero problems up until now. Driving onto the parking lot in the morning, I heard a couple of short scraping sounds close to idle speed. Definitely didn't sound "right", but went away again. At night, driving off the lot, again 2-3 burst of this scraping sound. No warning lights, and engine otherwise running well.Parked in the garage and the next morning found an oil puddle under the front of the engine. Oil coming from above the rear end of the plastic cover. See the picture at: http://www.streamview.net/DSC00139.jpgI have read about the RMS/IMS failures. What's the likely scenario. Could the crankshaft seal or IMS seal on the front of the engine failing? Oil pump? What could have caused the scraping noise? I am not driving it, until I have a better picture. Thanks so much! Good thing my 1985 targa is reliable ;-)
