2003 Boxster engine failure

Vehicle Information: Model (Boxster, Boxster S,Cayman, Cayman S): Boxster; Year: 2003; Engine (type, size, modifications): stock; Total Mileage: 29000; Transmission: Manual;

I was driving at highway speed, the car started to hesitate - when I put in the clutch the car stalled and I was able to get to the shoulder and park. I tried to re-start the car, but it wouldn't. I got out and saw a big puddle of oil by the rear tire. When the tow truck started to elevate the front end more and more oil evacuated from the car. I've heard from some shops that there's a problem with the rear main seal and saw something about a pin in one of your answers. My car is out of warranty and I'm potentially staring a BIG repair bill in the face - especially if the engine is ruined. Do you have any information about how to apply to Porsche for assistance as this appears to be a design flaw. Note that oil was checked that day and full and that oil was replaced at 28,000 miles (third oil change) in February 2008.Help!Thanks!
