2004 Boxster Clicking noise when opening the door

Interior

Vehicle Information: Model (Boxster, Boxster S,Cayman, Cayman S): Boxster; Year: 2004; Engine (type, size, modifications): stock; Total Mileage: 43,000; Transmission: Manual;

This question is more to satisfy my curiosity since my Boxster seems to work fine otherwise. From the first month that I purchased the car in 2004, occasionally (2 or 3 times a month), I hear a loud, rapid clicking sound when I open the driver's side door after the car has been sitting for at least overnight. The sound appears to be coming from the radio area inside the dash, but it is hard to nail down. It lasts for about 3 to 5 seconds. The only real problem I have with the radio is, perhaps 4 or 5 times in the past 4 years the radio has no sound when I turn it on. No matter what I do, there is no sound at all, even though all the other controls appear to work normally. It corrects itself after the car sits overnight. The dealer has no idea what I am talking about on either the clicking noise or the pouting radio. Ever come across this?
