Greetings all,

I am new to the group, bought my first Porsche earlier this year.  Absolutely love it.  However, I already need to replace the rear tires.  I have done some research, but have not been able to find a direct answer to my question  so thought I would try this.  Currently I have Michellin 235/50 ZR 17 tires on the back.  I have called around and cheked a few differant places.  Prices certainly range...Porsche dealer wants $560 to replace with exact same tires.  But I can also get a Firestone Firehawk All Season tire...don't think this is P rated...tires for $361.  Firestone said would be fine for the care...but of course they would.

I don't race the car or take it to a track.  Pretty much only drive on weekends or some road trips.  I understand there is going to be trade off...performance, ride, road noise, etc... between the two tires.  But is there anything "wrong" by going with the cheaper tire?  Since this is my first performance car, I am not sure what how important it is to "have to" buy the recommended Porsche tires or is it ok to save a couple hundred dollars...assuming I am ok with the trade offs.

Also currious if anyone has any recommendations that worked for them?

Thanks in advance!
