2005 Carrera Power Surge

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model : 911 carrera; Year: 2005; Mileage: 13800;

My Carrera has an annoying strong power surge when accelerating, particularly in 1st or 2nd gear, and on throttle pickup in higher gears. When it is hot outside, it even knocks when surging. Dealer and even area rep claims this is normal and results when camshaft adjusts to higher setting. I can't accept this as A: This an $80K car designed by fanatics who I can't believe designed the car to do this, and B: it does not happen all the time, just very often. Sometimes days go by and it is fine. Any experience with this? They claim that "all 2005's do this". I think the cam adjusters are sticking and need replacement. Thanks!
