2006 Cayman S coolant system bleeding

Heating and Ventilation

Vehicle Information: Model (Boxster, Boxster S,Cayman, Cayman S): Cayman S; Year: 2006; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.4; Total Mileage: 55492; Transmission: Manual;

My low coolant light came on about 4 months ago and I have been adding coolant/water over that period of time. I replaced both the coolant cap in the engine compartment and the O-ring on the cap under the service flap. Each time I add coolant it has been about 1 - 2 cups. I do not see any leaks and have never noticed any coolant under the car.I have read some of the descriptions on the site for adding coolant and bleeding the system to remove air pockets for the 986 and 996. Is the procedure the same for the 987? If I just add coolant over a series of days to the overflow tank, will that have the same end result? Is it just taking forever to fill the system based on the fact that I am not bleeding the air out?
