2007 997 Rain Sensor Wipers Speed Control

Vehicle Information: Model : 997 S Cabriolet; Year: 2007; Mileage: 10000;

I'm in Los Angeles and we rarely get rain, but today we have some. The speed control (or lack thereof) for the wipers in the intermittant mode is terrible. Apparently my car has the rain sensor and this controls the speed, however I find that it's entirely too fast even at it's slowest setting (the sliding switch in the wiper control stalk is set low). Is there any way to better control the wiper setting? I miss the "old days" where virtually every prior 911 had a simple knob to control the speed manually.
