2007 Boxster S Speedometer Accuracy

Electrical and Electronic

Vehicle Information: Model (Boxster, Boxster S,Cayman, Cayman S): Boxster S; Year: 2007; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.4; Total Mileage: 10500; Transmission: Manual;

Can the speedometer really be adjusted? If so, Should this be covered under warranty? I understand why it is practice to program them to show a higher speed but strongly disagree, especially in a Porsche. Further, this means it is registering higher mileage than it is being driven.I just had my car serviced (2/5/09) at the Santa Barbara dealer and asked for it to be addressed, since mine is close to 10 percent off. When the vehicle was ready, I was told that Porsche considers this to be within normal margins and that they design their cars that way, thus they couldnt change it. I searched for this here and found that there is a previous entry under speedometer error from 2/12/2006 saying this can be done with a tester.Can you provide more information and help to get this taken care of? I find the reasoning for the designed exaggeration a little insulting.
