6 pin round connector engine bay

Electrical

Model: Targa, Year:1973, Mileage:1000, Type of use:Street use only
Just installed a new tail light housing in my 73 Porsche. When I removed the old one from the left side, everything was working fine, including the rear fog light. When I installed the new one, cannot get power to the rear fog light. Checking the conductivity, I find that the old one fog light is connected to pin #1 on the 6 pin female connector. This is the one which is sort of at 11 O'clock position looking at the female connector with the stop gap straight up. However the new one has the fog light connected to the 12 O'clock position. The male 6 pin connector from the car harness has no pin at 12 O'clock. My question is, did they change this pin on the newer light assemblies? I think that maybe the one I just bought for $500 buck was wired improperly with these two pins interchange. By the way, nothing is connected to the female connected at the 11 O'clock position on the new one.Any help???
