89 Coupe with AC vibrations at shifter

Other

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Carrera, 2D Coupe S.A. Edition; Year: 1989; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2L,..no mods; Total Mileage: 128K, top/bottom rebuild at 96K;

Only recently, having encountered higher seasonal temps, have I discovered this vibration that is CLEARLY related to the AC being on..If the AC is on, and I run through the gears, above 4200 RPMs (1st, 2nd, etc.) I will experience a (VERY) vibrational element, felt at the the shifter...turn the AC off: she runs through redline with no shudder/vibrations. Very reproducable....no question it's AC related.....Now,..I've found a comp mounting plate bolt that will not tighten up (stripped)....this may well be the source,..should this be retapped? I've moved different bolts to this problematic location with no resultant changes (certainly, the plate)....Other than this anamoly...would their be anything else that would contribute to this vibrational transmission? Belt tension is dead-on (non-issue) Should the retap (if that's the fix) NOT fix the vibration, what's up here. Could it, in fact, be something non AC related? Sure goes away nicely with the AC off..in fact,..you CAN'T make it happen with the AC off...it just gives you all the WOT you need,..smooth as silk!!Thanks, in advance,,Best,Doyle
