Ed,Can you help me clarify a few 901 transmission questions?1)In terms of proper grade fluid, I have read your previous posts and some other reference information that I got my hands on. My question is the proper API grade GL-4 or GL-5? They both appear to apply to hypoid gears, but the severity of the load varies. I ask this because the Swepco 201 and Kendall NS-MP meet GL-5 and you mention that the grade might be GL-4. Is the NS-MP the Kendall oil you mentioned previously as well? Also, can any limited slip, GL-5, hypoid gear oils (like Valvoline Durablend or Shell Rotella) be used or is there another factor required?2)I have a 901/05 transmission (or at least the case) in my 1968 USA 911. Is this correct and would you have the gear ratios?3)There is an extension spring attached to a bolt on the bottom of the differential cover. On my car, the other end is rusted off. The spring is in a horizontal position and points to the front of the car. Would you know as to where it used to be attached to and what was its purpose? Thanks for all the advice.
