911 1969 engine ident and tuning suggestions

Vehicle Information: Model: 911T; Year: 1969; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.2 unknown; Total Mileage: unknown;

I wrote earlier about having tuned up my car and having it still run poorly. The suggested fix was to check the float levels in the car's Weber carbs, and to check the fuel pump pressure. Both of these things were checked and both were satisfactory. I did finally find the problem: the motor has been fitted with a Bosch 007 distributor from a 911S, and I was using timing data for a stock 911T for 1970. This resolved the hard starting, improved the cruise, and gave it more power throughout the entire range.This puts me back at square 1, the car still runs very rich and gets very poor gas mileage. First, the engine # is 6105928 is there any way to know what cams, compression, etc... this motor has? Was it origanilly a 911S motor with the fuel injection replaced? Second, the CD ignition is gone, should I go to a MSD 6AL as a reasonable cost replacement? Third, would it benefit me to get my hands on a stock 911T vacuum advance distributor? This car is a daily driver, and I'm more concerned with good behavior in town than racing.Thanks for your response to the first question!
