911 1969 Exhaust Barrel Nut extraction

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model: 911T; Year: 1969; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.0l Stock compression, etc, hydraulic tensioners, distributorless ignition, new fender mounted oil cooler; Total Mileage: 140,000;

When installing my new oil cooler and lines, I needed to take off the exhaust system - especially the left hand (driver's) side. One of my barrel nuts is stuck. It seems the stud has gone too far through, and I can't get the allen wrench all the way on the hex head inset. I spent several hours trying to remove this before I gave up. and worked around the exhaust system. Is there a way to remove a stuck exhaust berrel nut?? They are almost impossible to get to.
