911 1969 Ignition problems

Vehicle Information: Model: 911T; Year: 1969; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.0; Total Mileage: don't know;

1969 911T - My friend just bought the car which ran a couple of month ago. Starter cranks, fuel pump runs, there is 12 volts going to the distributor, but we cannot find current by the ignition coil. Engine cannot be started. Our guess is there is no charge going to the spark plugs (no spark), but we haven't been able to remove the plugs due to lack of appropriate tools.Any idea how we troubleshoot this non-starting engine? (I only know very little about the 911).Thanks in advance!
