911 1973 Rear Wheel Bearings

Suspension

Vehicle Information: Model: 911E; Year: 1973; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.4; Total Mileage: 76,000;

I have rebuilt the rear suspension on my 1973 911E and upgraded to the later style aluminum control arms. I find that I still have a little, very little play in the wheel when you move it back and forth with you hands in the 6 and 12 o'clock position. I have always heard that there should be NO play in the rear wheel bearings. I was very very careful when install the bearings and hubs, and am confident they were not damaged. I have double checked ALL torques, and they are correct. Again the play is minimal. Is it okay to have a very minimal amount of play? I had one reputable shop tell me, they rarely replace rear wheel bearings until they make noise.
