911 carrera 3 engine

Vehicle Information: Model: 911; Year: 1977; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 100,000;

Ed, Gary Smith from NM here. I've got a Carrera 3 engine and I was wondering if you know if those cranks are the same as the 2.4-2.7. I know that the early flywheels bolt right up and they use the same rod berrings, and have the same stroke. In those early 3.0 engines before the SC, did all they do was manufacture a case and drop in an off the shelf crank. Mostly just curious, but I do have one of those cranks without a case to put it in. Unless there is a trick oil seal to fit a later 3.0 case, this crank will not fit in just any 3.0 case because of the different diameter oil seal, both on the case and the crank. thanks, Gary
