911L 1968 alignment shims

Suspension

Vehicle Information: Model: 911L; Year: 1968; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): rebuilt by Motor Meister 2.0L--now more like a 2.3 L; Total Mileage: approx 150,000;

I am working with a local alignment company to align both the front and rear wheels of my 68 911L. I have just finished rebuilding the front and rear with almost all new parts--including welding into place a new front pan. After installing the rebuilt engine, I have put 135 miles into breaking in the engine. The car front end work appears good, the car will stop from 65 mph straight ahead and does not shake or wander while at that speed. My problem is the alignment company says a shim kit for the car will cost $350-$400 and is required to complete the required adjustments to the alignment. Any ideas how I can get the required kit for less and has anyone had a similar problem. I appreciate any ideas you may have.Richard
