912 to 911 conversion


Vehicle Information: Model: 912; Year: 1968; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 1600, not sure of the modes, but there is supposed to be a Big Bore kit; Total Mileage: 100000;

I noticed during a recent compression check that number 3 is 30% below the rest, 70 vs 100- 110.I am considering either rebuild or conversion. I need more power for DE and soon track. The car is set up with an upgraded suspension, and holds the track better than most cars.If conversion is the better bang for the buck, can I use the same transmission and rest of car and just bolt up a early 911 engine? What are my options or best value in your opinion?
