928S4 Tire pressure monitor

Wheels and Tires

Model: 928S4, Year:1990, Mileage:33,600, Type of use:Street use only
Hi. I recently purchased a 33,000-mile 1990 928S4, and when I check the tires when cold to the correct tire pressure per the Owner's Manual of 36 psi front and 44 psi rear, the tire pressure symbol in the instrument panel lights up, the Tire Pressure monitor lights up, saying Pressure Loss, and the little arrows on the "H" symbol for the front tires are flashing. I've checked and re-checked the tire pressure with several fairly accurate dial-type air pressure gauges and know the the cold tire pressure is to the specs in the Owner's Manual. After I drive around for the awhile and the tire temperature heats up, if I turn off the ignition and wait a minute or so, the tire pressure monitor does not light up or indicate low tire pressure. But if I come back the next day and start the car, the cycle repeats itself. Question: how can I disable the tire pressure sensing monitoring system so I don't have to put up with this annoyance? I check tire pressure regularly so don't care about the onboard tire pressure monitoring system. Thank you in advance. John Doak in Baltimore, MD 410 825-0108
