930 hesitation 2,3 gears

Fuel System

Vehicle Information: Year: 1988; Engine (Size, Modifications): 3.3 ; Total Mileage: 70,200;

I have a 1988 930. I have been have an intermitent problem withe the vehicle hesitation going in 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th gear. It happens as I am pressing on the gas and the vehicle will hesitate as if I am running out of gas. If I let off the gas pedal and shift to neutral and then down shift or upshift the car will recover. If I continue to press on the gas during the hesitation the car will loose power and the engine will die. I notice that the tach will slowly go down and eventually go to zero whent the car totally dies. I have address the two front relays to the fuel pump, check the fuel pump pressure on gauges. My questions are the following: What other avenues, systems, units etc. can I check? Warm up regulator? Can the problem lie with the bosche ignition unit (I did not initially think so, because I the tachometer did not drop immediately down to zero; ie. there was still a pulse) am I correct in my logic/thinking??? Do you have any thoughts about the "perma-tune" ignition units?? My research has shown that my stock bosche unit can be "fickle". I would greatly appreciate your guidance.
