The latest is that the codes point to the Hall Sensor. I'm told that this is not a replaceable part - need new distributor. They are going to find a used distributor to put in to confirm that this resolves the problem. I noticed searching through back questions that someone had a similar problem back in 10/2001 and you suggested it could be wiring problems - "I would check the wiring at the distributor end, beginning with taking the boot off the connector and carefully checking the physical connections both visually, and with a volt/ohm-meter. Too many times being connected and disconnected or one rough handling coupled with vehicle age could cause the wiring to become weak or intermittent". This could apply in my case?Light or no light - Car runs fine. Light never comes on in the morning! Heat/humidity doing something?
