964 Engine Reseal

Vehicle Information: Year: 1990; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 964, 3.6 L, none; Total Mileage: 120,000 KM (~ 74,500 Miles);

I purchased this car in the spring of 2000 with ~ 108,000 KM (~ 67,500 miles) on it. It is a very clean vehicle that appears to have been well maintained. I have it serviced at a registered Porsche dealership in Toronto, Ontario (Downtown Fine Cars). My mechanic indicates that the engine is leaking oil and requires a complete reseal. Note that I use 5W-50 Castrol Synthetic. It does leave a few oil spots on the garage floor however the oil consumption does not appear to be excessive and the performance remains excellent. With this (low) mileage and given the good condition of the vehicle, I find it difficult to believe that a complete reseal is required. Can you provide some advice on this corrective action and if it seems reasonable, given the condition of the vehicle. It would seem to me that it is more likely that the fix should be something simpler. I plan to get a second opinion however your advice would be appreciated. Given that I am not the original owner, and assuming that a reseal is required, does this suggest prior obuse ?
