968 pistons / Rods to 944S2

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944S2; Year: 1989; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 147K;

I am in the process of rebuilding a 1989 944S2 to become a weekend track duty car. The car has been VERY well maintained during its life. But with 147K, I would like to consider rebuilding the engine. Upon researching information on the build, I found that the 968 pistons/rods (both forged) could potentially be a worthwhile upgrade to the motor. The bore/stroke are the same at 104mmx88mm respectively, but the compression is slightly higher on the 968 at 11:1 versus the S2's 10.9:1. The question is - Is this swap possible while sticking with an S2's 16V head? Will there be clearance issues? Intuition tells me no, based upon the marginal bump in compression. So far, I have stumped the pro's. Any input?
