993 all wheel drive - Discs in limited slip differential

Vehicle Information: Year: 1998 C4S; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 46000 km;

I have read an article on the Porsche Club GB wesite that the all wheel drive system on both the C4S and the Turbo has a problem with the plates in the limited slip differential. It manifests itself in a feeling of the rear of the car steering the front when "pressed hard". It further indicated that the extreme is for the car to change lanes unexpectedly under hard acceleration. Replacing the plates in the differential seems to solve the problem. I have reviewed the tech advise section of this website but see no mention of this problem. Have you heard of it before? Is it common? What would be the cause of the plates wearing out? What is the cost of a fix? Is this this something that needs to be addressed at a certain mileage?
