993 (and 964) head temp sensor and reference sensor connector changes

Electrical and Electronic

Vehicle Information: Year: 1995; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 38,000;

I have a 1995 993 motor which I will be transplanting into my 1981 SC. I recently ordered some maintainence parts and gaskets for the 993 as it is easier to replace these parts while the engine is out of the car. I also purchased a reference and head temp sensor and found that the plugs in these sensors are alittle different that the sensors on my motor. I also found that the reference sensor is a part that supercedes the old part and along with it came several electrical connectors and a connector plug - it looks like I have to modify the connectors to work with my electrical harness. My question is, how do I modify the connector plugs or did I get the wrong parts? The connectors on the new parts have the electrical pins farther back in the plug compared to the stock version and the electrical coonnectors that came with the new parts did not come with any instructions.
