Transmission and Clutch

Model: Cayman S, Year:2006, Mileage:20000, Type of use:Street use only
In the last Panorama (Feb) Tech Q & A, someone inquired about a notchy engagement when going into gear from a stop. This was accompanied by a higher-than-normal clutch engagement. This pretty much describes a clutch with bent fingers on the pressure plate- it doesn't want to necessarily fully engage with confidence, but it also does not want to dis-engage. That's where the hard gear engagement comes in; with the pedal down (some part of) the clutch is still dragging. This is THE common failure mode for a diaphram-type clutch.
