996 C2 Cooling exhaust fan under rear deck lid

Vehicle Information: Year: 2001; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 15050;

Should the exhaust/cooling fan under the rear deck lid ever run after the car has been turned off? I have been driving my car recently in ambient air temps as high as 105 degrees F here in Tulsa and I have noticed that I never hear the fan running after the ignition has been turned off. I recently test drove a Porsche 996 Turbo and after the test drive I noticed that the exhaust fan under its rear deck lid was running, even after the ignition had been turned off, which has me wondering if something may be wrong with my car. I haven't noticed any tendency for my car to run hot or to be any higher than the "normal" range on the temperature gage when I am driving it, but I'm concerned why there is a difference. I can't recall ever hearing the fan running with the engine off on my 996 since I purchased the car in March 2001.
