Car Purchase

Vehicle Information: Model: 996; Year: 1999; Body Type: Cabriolet; Total Mileage: 24500;

I am looking at a long distance 1999 996 with 24K. Having read about the RMS issue, I asked the question and was told "they checked and it was damp, but not leaking. With regular driving this should not be a problem" What do you think of that answer?Also, can the RMS be fixed without replacing the engine? If so, typically what does that cost?I currently have a pristine 1989 911. I'd like to upgrade, but want a quality car that will last me a long time. Tks
